A nod from Paul Graham

About two weeks ago, I published an article called "Startups for the rest of us" where I criticized Paul Graham's Y-Combinator program as not being a viable option for the somewhat older crowd of developers and explained some of the downfalls of the program. It would appear that Paul read my article at some point and I got an anonymous nod in his latest article.

"Someone wrote recently that the drawback of Y Combinator was that you had to move to participate."
Paul, any chance of a direct link? *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge*

In any case, I've given some thought to a reply because I think Paul is missing the point I was making.

# re: A nod from Paul Graham

I agree Paul's focus on the 'wet behind the ears' college students is annoying. The guy certainly has tunnel vision. From my experience, it doesn't take long for an imaginative person working in business to spot a multitude of 'start up' oppurtunites that people not in the industry couldn't even imagine. Here I mean whatever arbitrary industry you happen to be in. Anyway, good luck with the move, and please nobody slahdot Mike! 10/15/2006 10:43 AM | Mark
