As an addendum to my previous story about my stolen GPS, I checked some local pawn shops and had no luck. I realized after I made that post that the thief also stole a bag of mints from my car. Let's see here. I'll steal a $1,000 GPS device, not bother to take the charger, and looky here! A bag of mints! Score!
Who's the bigger moron? The guy who stole the GPS or the guy who left it in the car? I'm starting to wonder.
Anyway, the point of today's post is that today, I went to register a new domain name and found that it had already been snagged by someone else just yesterday. I checked into it about two months ago thinking it would be great to snag singlefounder.com and post articles about how to start your own company and offer moral support for those taking the leap on their own. Unfortunately, it was just registered by someone else.
oops.
This isn't the first time this has happened to me. For example, this is how I ended up with miketaber.net instead of miketaber.com. I think that by now, I've learned my lesson. From now on, whenever I think of a good domain name, even if I don't have any time or content to put into it right away, I'm going to register it immediately and figure out the details later. For a mere $10/year, that seems like a no brainer, but I guess it takes getting burned a few times before you learn.
I think I'll learn not to leave the GPS in my car after just one lesson though. Otherwise, it could get pretty expensive.
